5 Ways To Save On A Wedding

5 Ways To Save On A WeddingSome people will spend 10's of thousands of dollars to put a wedding together. Though each wedding will be different there are ways to save, whether you have a budget of tens of thousands or thousands. Join me as we look at 5 great ways to save on a wedding.

Here is a summary of the 5 ways to save on a wedding
1. Closer to home
2. Do it yourself
3. Get resourceful
4. Rent it!
5. Borrow it!

1. Closer to home
One of the biggest expenses for a wedding is the place you hire to hold the wedding at. The wedding location factors in highly. For example in a city prices for renting a hall can be expensive.

If you live out of the city, then holding a wedding closer to home can be much cheaper. It all comes down to the amount of people attending. Obviously renting a bigger place will require more money than hiring a small place to hold the wedding.

There is a flip side to the closer to home rule. If for example you live in a city, an alternative is to look out of the city! On occasion, depending on your budget, you may find it is even cheaper to fly to another country and hold the wedding there!

2. Do it yourself
Doing things yourself is a great way to make big savings. For example you can save on wedding invitations by doing them yourself. However, remember to factor in postage. Remember one extra stamp is going to equal double the cost, so lighter the package, the cheaper it will be overall.

If you really want to do things on a budget, you can always grow the flowers for the wedding at home. This needs knowing well in advance what you want for your wedding, the date, and also how long it will take to grow the wedding flowers.

If you and your partner will be moving into a new home around the time of the wedding, then it can be a great idea to hold the wedding at home. This is a great way to make big savings, and if you have a home large enough to fit the guests, the savings can really add up.

Cooking food at home is also a great way to make big savings. However, in all these cases, it is good to first find out how much it will cost from a third party, as it can on occasion cost more when we do it ourselves.

3. Get resourceful
Getting resourceful is essential to make big savings. Look at what you have available. You may know family and friends who operate businesses in catering, have venues, etc. All these are great ways to possibly make big savings, so it is worth asking around.

4. Rent it!
Suits and wedding dresses don't have to be purchased new. A lot of people make big savings on the wedding by renting these items rather than buying.

5. Borrow it!
Do you want to arrive at the wedding in a flash car? If you can't afford a limo, there is always someone you know who has a flashy car. Asking them to drive on the day or let you borrow the car is a great way to arrive at your wedding in style.
